Take a look at this personal video capturing the stunning winter beauty of Hurdal!
…and yes, every so often, the Northern Lights make a breathtaking appearance

Hurdal boasts a variety of attractions and is home to over 100 active voluntary organizations. The area is blessed with abundant snowfall, which typically begins to accumulate just north of the International Airport. This unique phenomenon is caused by a mountain range to the east of Hurdal. Winter activities in the region are naturally focused on snow and ice, with the Kicksled World Championship being a highlight event that brings an Olympic-like atmosphere every year.
Hurdal also features Akershus’ largest alpine center, offering excellent skiing opportunities. Additionally, you’ll find well-maintained ski trails throughout the area, some of which are even lit up at night! A favorite activity is skiing on the frozen lake, offering a sensation akin to being high in the mountains above the treeline. Just 20 minutes away by car, the renowned Lygna cross-country ski area awaits, located 600 meters above sea level, where the snow typically lasts until May. If you have the time, why not visit Hafjell? One of Norway’s most popular alpine centers—just 1 hour and 45 minutes away.
